Service to Promote Health and Welfare in the Oneida Community

The Oneida Health Auxiliary was established in 1915 with the mission of supporting the needs of the hospital, staff, and patients by providing comfort care items that are outside of the operating budget. Fast forward to today and the mission remains the same with the addition of supporting residents at the ECF and promoting the health and welfare of our community. Each year the Auxiliary gives countless hours serving the needs of Oneida Health’s patients and residents.

Oneida Health AuxillaryTo support the Auxiliary’s mission, fundraising is an essential activity. Over the years, the Auxiliary has hosted Follies, fashion and talent show, bake sales, book/gift sales, and other community events to raise funds. With funds raised at events like these, the Auxiliary has been able to purchase recliners for patient rooms, a portable cardiac monitor for the ED, bariatric chairs for Radiology patients, a baby scale for the OB unit as well as many other items to benefit our patients and residents. The work of the Auxiliary is so important and such an asset to Oneida Health.

One of the most active groups within the Auxiliary is the sewing committee. Our members sew teddy bears for pediatric patients, surgical pillows, and walker/wheelchair bags for ECF residents. They also knit hats and booties for newborns, lap blankets for residents as well as hats for patients receiving treatment at the cancer center.

The Auxiliary also has a lot of fun! Each June, the Auxiliary assists with the Boxing Hall of Fame luncheon at the ECF and hosts the strawberry fest, serving strawberry shortcakes and punch to the residents. The group also attends and supports the annual Eat Well, Play Hard event to promote healthy eating habits and active lifestyles. Members volunteer their time at Oneida Health events throughout the year.
